Amateur Radio Satellites are a fun mode that is often overlooked by ham radio
operators. There are quite a number of Amateur Radio Satellites in space, as well as
amateur radio on the International Space Station. It is very rewarding and fun
to learn how to track these satellites with accuracy and monitor them as they
pass across your horizon.
Armed with a good tracking software on your computer, you can predict when a
particular satellite will be over your radio horizon to listen to it. We do recommend
that you start by monitoring the downlink frequency. If you live in south
Georgia, the prediction link below will give you a printout of the times a
particular satellite will be over your area.
PREDICTIONS FOR SOUTH GEORGIA
AMSAT is the amateur radio organization that is
involved world wide promoting, and building amateur radio satellites. We
encourage amateur radio operators interested in satellite communications
to become a member. Membership fees and donations from the radio amateurs
help with the cost of building Amateur Satellites.
